There have been many earthquakes at Yellowstone National Park starting on 12/27/08 and there has been one today, 12/30/08 which registered 2.4 in magnitude. This recent earthquake was 58 km (36 mi) ESE of West Yellowstone, MT. Most of these quakes are being felt on the Northern Park of Yellowstone Lake
While small earthquakes in Yellowstone National Park are common, so many in such a short period of time have geologists scratching their heads!
On Saturday night, December 27, 2008, a moderate earthquake hit Yellowstone with a magnitude of 3.9. This is similar to the Earthquake that was felt in Lancaster, PA on Saturday morning which registered at 3.3.
Yellowstone National Park sits on top of an active Volcanic area which continues to be monitored.
