U.S. Soccer and Nike are encouraging fans across the country to wear red on Wednesday, Feb. 11, to show their support for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s match against Mexico in the final round of FIFA World Cup qualifying. The match, which is sold out at Columbus Crew Stadium, will be live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and Univision beginning at 7 pm. ET.
Why is the U.S Mens soccer game in Columbus, Ohio? Soccer is a huge sport in Mexico and these fans have been known to travel. If this game were close to Mexico, the Mexico fans would out number USA fans and destroy the home field advantage. The US is losing over 2 million in ticket sales due to them playing in Ohio.
